Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The mandatory fee has been paid and evidence of payment (in PDF or JPEG) is ready for upload.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
  • The name(s) and affiliations of the author(s) are removed from the document.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Roman font, and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and referencing requirements of the latest edition of the APA style.

Author Guidelines

Sokoto Educational Review will consider for publication any article in any field of education or related disciplines. The journal also welcomes review of relevant books in education or teaching and learning situations. All articles must be submitted using the online submission system on this website (see the "submission" component of the website). 

Authors are required to make two mandatory, non-refundable payments at the appropriate stages of the publication process. The first payment is an assessment fee of N5,000 ($15) per article. Evidence of this payment must accompany each new submission. The second payment of N15,000 ($40) is required to be made after the article has been found publishable. Evidence of this payment must also uploaded together with a corrected copy of the article. All payments should be made to:

Authors should adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Articles submitted must not have been published or be under consideration for publication by any other journal.

2. The length of the article should not exceed 4,000 words, and should contain an abstract of not more than 150 words. Book reviews must not exceed 1,000 words. 

3. The manuscript should be typed doubled-spaced using Times New Roman 12 font size. 

3. Tables and figures must be numbered, labelled and placed at the appropriate page and point in the body of the manuscript. 

4. Author's names, affiliations, or any information that identifies the author(s) should not appear in the manuscript. The online submission system has a separate page where this information is captured. 

5. Article must adhere to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements of the latest edition of the APA manual. 

Copyright Notice

Author(s) retain the copyright for their articles published in Sokoto Educational Review, with first publication rights granted to the journal. By virtue of their appearance in this open access journal, articles are free to use with proper attribution in educational and other non-commercial sectors.

Author(s) confirm that the work does not infringe any personal or property rights of another, that the work does not contain anything libellous or otherwise illegal. 

Author(s) also agree that the work contains no material from other works protected by copyright that have been used without the written consent of the copyright owner.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
