Democracy is a concept with many definitions. For this paper we want to accept that it is a form of government by the selected view and regarded as one of the best form of governance. For this to be achieved language plays a dominant role and the roles cannot be underestimated. This paper x - rayed the roles of language in human society especially in a democratic setting. The likely problem that may ensue due to disinformation or misinformation is not left untouched. Plausible ways of having a socio-political cohesion in any democratic dispensation through language is also proffered.
